as much as we loved the fact that we only had to pay $15 for this sofa bed, it was time for a new one.
soon after these pictures were taken, the seams on the arms started to fall apart.
it wouldn't have been so bad if curious hands didn't pull out the fuzzy orangish-yellow stuff to taste test it, or if hyperactive kids didn't attack it as if it were a defensive linebacker, or if others wouldn't use the arms as their personal perch, or if the seams on the back of the couch would have stayed intact.
but it wasn't meant to be.
we tried sewing the seams back together, but the material was so frail that it tore as I was sewing it
we tried using couch covers, but couch covers don't stay on properly when you have four children flying themselves at it like they were trying to see if they could get the couch through the wall
we tried sewing old blankets to it but then you have the combination of what happens to couch covers and the material falling apart in your hands
goodbye old.
it was nice having you
the kids loved camping out on you
you comfortably provided a space for our entire family to snuggle up together to watch movies as a family
but your innards were getting to be too much to bare.
I would find parts of you in Stevie's hair while at church, or in the girls' backpacks after school,
or in Savion's mouth at any given moment, or in my scriptures after a long hard day with the kiddies.
you served us well.
thank you.
Hello new!
We ordered our new chair and love seat from Home Reserve, Inc. about two weeks ago and were anxiously awaiting their arrival.
what I like about their products is that they are cheaper (you have to assemble it yourself), but the pieces are all interchangable, if a part of the furniture breaks, then you only need to order that part to replace it.
their materials are separated, kind of like slip ons but specifically made to fit your furniture, so if you want to change the look, you only have to purchase the material, or if you're sewing machine savvy you can copy the pattern and sew your own. and all their material is machine washable!
the seats have room for storage in them, so do the ottomans
and the seats are supper sturdy, the website brags "kid tested" so my little monkeys won't be able to damage these so easily
the furniture was delivered TODAY!
Steve and I immediately broke down the old couch, cleaned up the living room of all the fuzz and promptly broke into the boxes to build our new furniture.
we started with the chair:
Savion just had to get in on the action
so I helped him hammer some plastic parts in place
of course he then became the expert hammerer
and because Savion got to help, they all wanted to help
they each took turns hammering in the plastic pieces and using the power drill to build the love seat
I thought that they would take pictures of them each using the drill, but I guess they were too excited and forgot
anyway, here is our new furniture set
the chair
and the love seat
oooooooh, they're soooooooo comfortable!
and the best part is . . .
NO FUZZ!
